How to Use Either, Neither, Or and Nor
Either...or व Neither ...nor साठी देखील Not only... but also चेच नियम वापरावे लागतात. म्हणजेच...
1.हे शब्द वापरण्यासाठी तुलनीत घटक एकाच जातीचे असावे लागतात.
2.पहिल्या तुलनीत घटकाच्या आगोदर Either व नंतर or वापरतात. Or नंतर लागलीच दुसरा तुलनीत घटक वापरतात.
3. पुनरावृत झालेले शब्द काढून टाकावेत.
उदा.
- He is rich and generous.
- He is either rich or generous.
- He is neither rich nor generous.
- He is rich as well as generous.
As well as As well as साठीदेखील वरील नियमच वापरतात; as well as मात्र दोन्ही तुलनीत घटकाच्या मध्ये येते व as well as ने दोन कर्त्यांना जोडल्यानंतर वाक्यातील क्रियापद मात्र पहिल्या कांप्रमाणे येते. उदा. You and I are fortunate to see this. -You as well as I are fortunate to see this.
Exercise Either-or / Neither-nor : Change the following sentences according to instructions.
1. I would not be beaten, I would not give in. (Use neither nor and rewrite.)
2. They have never seen a sunrise or met the milkman. (Use neither nor and rewrite.)
3. The Lakshman Rekha episode is not there in either Valmiki's Ramayan or in the Ram Charit Manas. (Use 'neither nor'.)
4. People are cutting trees and not planting any. (Use either... or and rewrite.)
5. He is so lazy that he will sleep or watch T.V. (Use either... or and rewrite.)
6. The animal moved, so did the woman.(Useas well as and rewrite.)
7. Reinventing them will need political will and administrative
vision. (Use as well as and rewrite.)
