Paragraph Format

The poem Silver appreciates the beauty of the glistening stars and the moon at night. The night gives everything a silvery look. When the stars appear through the branches of a tree, it appears as if the tree has silver fruits.

Similarly, the silver beam on a sleeping dog makes it seem as if the paws of the dog are made of silver. The feathers of the doves and the claws and eyes of the mice have a silvery look. The stream and its surrounding reeds also look as if they are silver coated.

As the silver beam falls on the sleeping dog, it looks as if the dog has silver paws. Similarly, the doves and mice seem to have feathers and claws and eyes made of silver. Even the stream in which the fish reside looks as if it is silver. The reeds by the side of the stream are no different.

Slowly, silently, now the moon
Walks the night in her silver shoon;
This way, and that, she peers, and sees
Silver fruit upon silver trees;

One by one the casements catch
Her beams beneath the silvery thatch;
Couched in his kennel, like a log,
With paws of silver sleeps the dog;

From their shadowy cote the white breasts peep
Of doves in silver feathered sleep
A harvest mouse goes scampering by,
With silver claws, and silver eye;

And moveless fish in the water gleam,
By silver reeds in a silver stream.
- Walter de la Mare
